WHY

The last time my children had their hair hacked, sorry cut, at a specialist children’s salon the result was more Dumb and Dumber than Disney princess. I figured that’s as good as it gets, as what kind of hairdresser specialises in children’s hair? I took them to a professional adult salon and my youngest drowned in her gown and spent the whole time climbing out of the chair. I thought I may as well resort to a pudding bowl. Then I stumbled across the Nottii Hill salon, the size of a bijou barbers on Portobello Road. The owner Caroline Ferguson, who trained at Vidal Sassoon and worked in a children’s salon in LA cutting the likes of Diana Ross’ children’s hair, understands what an early life event your children’s first haircuts are. Mothers are often as nervous as the little ones. Mine marched straight to their seats – red fire engine for Ursula, pink sports car for Cc. Peppa Pig was swiftly switched on and cookies offered. The atmosphere was relaxed, the children weren’t rushed and I even had a trim while their hair was being blow-dried. We left with professional cuts, glitter-sprayed (them) and lollipops (me) – we will definitely be back.

ON THE MENU

There is a full range of treatments including children’s haircuts, fringe trims and styling – as well as styling and colouring for parents. Ask for Guido for your little ones. It’s predominantly a children’s salon so if you are expecting a luxury spa experience it’s probably not for you.
